When I am exceedingly tired, it’s very difficult for me to read, but I’ve found ways to listen to books or podcasts so I can still benefit from the information. I use both Scribd and Spotify. I love listening to Jim Rohn. He’s funny, but practical, and tells it like it is.
While listening to him a short while ago this phrase stood out for me, and I kept repeating it, until I could get to my laptop to write.
It’s so much easier to pay the price if we can see the promise
JIM ROHN
Interestingly, while watching At Home with the Fury’s – a Netflix reality show following the heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury and his family, post retirement, his brother Tommy was asked a question by his girlfriend Molly Mae – “What do you think Tyson will do next?” Tommy couldn’t see a future for Tyson without boxing.
Tyson’s wife Paris, also expressed concerns, because when Tyson first retired, that did not go very well. She revealed that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and it was a rollercoaster of emotions for them for about three years.
Boxing is Tyson’s promise – the one that drives him and brings him the greatest results.
This is why it’s so important to discover what you really want, and this changes with age. It’s not a one and done. No doubt you have achieved certain goals already but what will get you so excited that you are willing to do whatever it takes to get it?
What would you do for an extraordinary promise?
I am sure you might be able to come up with a list right now however if the promise isn’t clear are you willing to:
- Study the material
- Burn the midnight oil
- Work a little longer
- Create a business on the side to subsidize your salary
- Take an online course
- Master a necessary skill
I doubt it!
You need to see and feel what you desire. You need to live now, in the ideal future in your mind. With that promise of achievement, you will be ready, willing and able, to pay the necessary price.
