Stop being an impostor and start letting the world see the real you

Is it possible for a Nobel Laureate to feel like a fraud?

I have written 11 books, but each time I think, ‘uh oh, they’re going to find out now.

MAYA ANGELOU

Once you put yourself “out there” you can be sure that impostor syndrome is going to be accompanying you on that journey.

It seems to be a common affliction once you decide to go out on your own, consult, or start a business, especially if you’re putting yourself out there, selling your expertise. It’s common to deal with the fear of being found out as a fraud.

A psychological occurrence in which people doubt their skills, talents, or accomplishments and have a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as frauds.

WIKEPEDIA

Impostor syndrome might be showing up in two very distinct ways:

  1. You underestimate your own value, constantly thinking that you’re not worth what you’re thinking of charging
  2. You are an impostor

In the first instance, continuing to believe that you aren’t worth it, is tantamount to building a vibrational wall around you that would literally prevent you from enjoying and generating abundance in your business.

If you want to generate more income in your business, your work is less about manipulating your potential clients and more about discovering how you need to change, in order to make the results you’re after real.

The second possibility is a harder pill to swallow…so let me ask you this:

Does some part of you sense, that you’re being something/someone you’re not?

What if, instead of trying to talk yourself through the syndrome, you view the feeling as a clue that the REAL you is still in hiding?

THE CURE:

Start allowing the real you to be seen in the world. Period.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’re in good company. Think Maya.

And remember this: Maya didn’t stop writing and using her voice. She continued being herself, and sharing her gifts in spite of her fear.
