You’ve probably seen that old team-building exercise — where one person stands with their back to the team. They are told to fall backwards and trust that their team will catch them. It’s an exercise in trust.
Can you do that with your business?
Can you lean back, take your foot off the gas for a moment, and trust that your business will still provide?
For many entrepreneurs and leaders, the answer — if we’re being honest — is no. If we aren’t pushing, then we fear that there would be nothing in place to ‘catch us.’
If you can’t trust your strategy, processes and people then what have you been building?
It’s hard to admit that what we’ve built isn’t actually holding us — it’s just happening around us. And that somewhere along the way, we stopped steering. We got caught up in reacting instead of consistently, recalibrating and realigning.
If you don’t trust how you’re functioning right now, it may be the right time to examine what you need to let go of to make room for what you really need at this time. Perhaps you need to let go of:
- Going it alone
- Making excuses
- Allowing distraction to cause you to lose sight of why you started your business in the first place
- Overcomplicating what could be simple
- Letting emotions run the show instead of executing
- Getting too attached to outcomes that were never guaranteed
- Saying you’ll do things you won’t follow through on
It may be time to let go — of habits, stories, expectations, and structures that no longer serve you — and start rebuilding something you can trust.
Your business can be redesigned into one that earns money without chaos.
- That delivers value without your constant presence.
- That aligns with your goals — not just your effort.
- That holds you, even when life doesn’t go to plan.
Can you trust your business to catch you?
If not, it’s time to make changes — not just to your systems, but to how you’re showing up inside them. You need to get to a point of trust, and feel safe in your decision to do that.
