** HINT: It’s not a learning problem. It’s a clarity problem.

Do I REALLY want to do this?

From Christmas day 1994 – my official resignation date, I have quit several times but never left my self-employed gig. Yet despite all those years and supposed learnings, sometimes I actually believe the shit my brain is throwing at me. As a problem solver, my knee jerk response is to analyze what’s going on (wrong), with me. Perhaps, I’ve reached the end of my road/rope and need to find something else to do. “What though?” – self asks self, waiting for an answer.

Nothing. Silence. And just like that – the moment passes and I am OK again. Back in the game – ready to slay!

James Wedmore – the Digital CEO – suggests that we have countless enemies – Imposter Syndrome, Perfectionism, Over-Complication, Over-Thinking, Closed-Mindedness, People-Pleasing, Self-Sabotage, Fear of Failure, Fear of Success, Attachment, Victim Mentality, Martyr Mentality… the list goes on.  What James says next is worth highlighting and remembering, whenever you are in a place like I just describe.

Being your WORD… declaring you will take an action… and then TAKING that action when one of those enemies is staring you down… that is the way.

It’s the antidote that renders those enemies futile.  These perpetrators EXIST to FREEZE you. To Immobilize you before you venture out beyond your Comfort Zone.

That’s their job.

The problem is, everything you want exists out beyond in the unknown. That’s living. That’s success.

“Success” isn’t making some amount of money. Getting famous or whatever.

It’s conquering your enemies and discovering more of who you are and what you are truly capable of when you no longer take Council from these Guardians of Your Comfort Zone.

That’s FREEDOM.

If you don’t slay these dragons, (and these dragons almost never completely die – so keep sharpening your sword), you are never going to see what is beyond your fear. All those people we admire, see on stage, speaking to groups, innovating, daring to be seen, don’t doubt for a minute that the enemies don’t plague them. They just don’t let the enemies stop them.

I made it. Nothing is wrong with me. I’ll be fine. Tomorrow is another opportunity. What promises can I make tonight, and keep them when those enemies rear their heads and try to scare me off my path?
