At the End of This Week, I Want You to Hear This: I See You

As this week closes, I’ve been thinking about how much we ask of ourselves while pretending everything is “fine.”

We show up to meetings, push through deadlines, nod politely on Zoom… all while carrying a private universe of things no one else can see.

So before you rush into the next thing… just pause with me for a moment.

I see you.

I see you trying to sell an idea to a boss who just isn’t getting it.
I see you trying to collaborate with a colleague who keeps making everything harder than it needs to be.
I see you trying to raise funding, pitching your heart out while hoping someone finally says yes.

I see you managing the quiet grief of a parent who isn’t well…the guilt of being away on duty travel while still coordinating care back home…the tenderness of loving someone whose body is changing faster than you can process.

I see you navigating your own health…the blood sugar checks, the diet adjustments, the constant negotiation between what your body needs and what life demands.

I see you showing up even when you feel stretched thin, overwhelmed, or unseen.

We rarely acknowledge how much invisible labor sits behind the word “week.”

And yet… here you are.

  • Still doing the best you can.
  • Still trying.
  • Still choosing to show up for others while figuring out how to show up for yourself.

So let me offer you this:

It is okay if you felt both strong and exhausted this week.
It is okay if you held joy in one hand and frustration in the other.
It is okay if you rose to the occasion while quietly wishing someone would check in on you for once.

These aren’t contradictions. They’re evidence of your humanity.

Give yourself some grace tonight. Not because everything went perfectly…but because you kept going when it didn’t.

And that matters.

STRATEGIC REFLECTION PROMPT

What part of your week required strength you didn’t realize you had — and how can you acknowledge yourself for it, even in a small way?
