Think on These Things Whenever You’re Stuck

Are you working on too many goals/objectives?

Do you have a to-do list that doesn’t seem to quit? Do you find yourself occasionally having to pull an ‘all-nighter’ because you’re trying to make up for lost time because you were busy doing stuff you were having fun doing, leaving the not so appealing project behind to complete in the last minute, and now the deadline is upon you and it’s a MUST and not a MAYBE that you complete it in the time left? Are you always running from one thing to the next without the proper time to really dedicate to the important things in your business and life? Do you lack clarity in what needs to be done next in your business? Have you ever looked back at a period – say the past 90-120 days- and find that you’ve achieved nothing of consequence?

The first thing you need to do is to set appropriate objectives. The guru to the gurus, Rich Schefren, tells us that we must set appropriate objectives: THE LEAST NUMBER OF OBJECTIVES YOU CAN DETERMINE  THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO REACH YOUR GOALS. Why take 15 steps when only 5 will get you where you need to go?

Ideally limit the number of goals you’re working on to 3…2 is even better but 3 is the limit. Focus is key.

Action is a precondition for increasing your self esteem. Action also creates motivation – not the other way around.

However when you are not focused and your action is scattered then there is a misalignment between your intent and what you actually do and it is THIS DISHARMONY that leaves you feeling conflicted and unhappy.

So when next you’re stuck ask yourself:

  1. Am I working on appropriate objectives?
  2. Is what I’m doing aligned with those objectives?
  3. Am I doing the fewest number of things I need to do with maximum focus to achieve those objectives?
  4. Am I doing those things consistently?

Then and only then you will not only have a manageable list of things that you need to do but look back after 90 days and feel proud of yourself for what you have accomplished.
